Session Check-Ins

Event check-in gets you through the door. Session check-in records that you attended a particular talk or workshop inside that event — useful for the organizer's attendance reporting, and for your own record of what you went to.

How You Get Checked In

It depends which way the organizer runs it — they choose per event.

If you check yourself in: each session has a QR code posted on its door. Point your phone's ordinary camera at it — no app needed — and tap the link. You'll be checked in straight away. If you're not signed in, you'll be asked to, and then taken right back to the check-in.

You can also do it without scanning: open the event, find the session in the Event Agenda, and press Check in to this session.

Some organizers only accept check-in around the time a session runs — typically from shortly before it starts until shortly after it ends. If you're told check-in isn't open yet, the message says when it will be.

If staff check you in: a member of the team scans your event ticket at the session door, or marks you present from their attendance list. Nothing for you to do but turn up with your ticket.

Some events accept both.

Your Event Ticket Still Matters

A session is part of the event you bought a ticket for, so the same rule applies:

Where to See It

Your session attendance appears in the organizer's reports. Ask them if you need a record of the sessions you attended.

Continuing-Education Credit

If the event issues CE / CPD credit, only staff-verified check-ins count — the ones where a member of the team scanned your ticket or marked you present. Checking yourself in records that you attended, but it isn't proof you were in the room, so it doesn't earn credit on its own.

If you're attending for credit and only see a QR code on the door, ask a staff member to scan you in as well. It takes a moment and saves an argument later.

Points

Checking in to a session earns 25 points — but only if the organizer has turned session points on for that event. Gamification is per-event and off unless they enable it, so the same action can earn points at one event and nothing at the next. That's their choice, not a fault.

To see whether it's running, look for a Leaderboard or Rewards tab on the event. If there isn't one, the event isn't awarding points and your attendance is simply recorded.
